Wisconsin Beer Bread has been a family business since 1996. Formerly owned by my brother Scott, I wanted to continue his business in honor of what he started. Located in historic downtown Baraboo, WI, the mix is hand processed and shipped guaranteeing freshness and quality that cannot be found in a grocery store.

We serve many local businesses in South Eastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois including Woodman’s grocery stores in Madison and Sun Prairie, Miller’s Girl in the Moon Gift Shop, Moosejaw Pizza, and Brewing Company in Wisconsin Dells. We have made bread from a product that was over 3 yrs old and it came out exactly the same as a newly manufactured bag of mix. It worked and tasted great. Product integrity is very good and has a long shelf life.

What makes this fun is that you can use just about any beer you can think of. It works well with non-alcoholic beer too, or even soda (we recommend a lemon-lime type otherwise the bread is exceedingly sweet) The fruit beers work too, although a berry type beer will turn it pink! I even heard of someone using a hard lemonade (these are usually less than 12 ounces so you may have to add water to supplement the liquid).

Wisconsin Beer Bread is a very versatile product. Whichever beer you decide to use will impart that flavor into the bread. Also, you can add fruits, nuts, cheese, most anything you want and you will have a delicious loaf of bread. For example; blueberries, dried cranberries, walnuts, bacon (yes, bacon!), crumbled cheeses. You can make your bread into a sweet dessert type bread, a savory bread, or you can just make it with a bottle of beer and not add anything. The batter works well for muffins or you can even make little loaves of bread. It is a perfect appetizer on any restaurant menu!

You will need a package of Beer Bread mix, a bottle of your favorite beer, a bowl to mix it in, a spatula or spoon to mix with, and a prepared 5 x 9 loaf pan (muffin tins can be used also). Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Empty your bread mix into a bowl, pour in 12 ounces of your favorite beer, and mix together. Don’t over mix as the batter is supposed to be lumpy. Pour the contents of the bowl into your loaf pan and bake in the oven for 50 – 60 minutes. Take the bread from the oven and out of the pan and let it cool on a wire rack. That is all there is to it.
